- Move to the upper left corner of the screen
and click on the Apple icon.
- Move down the list to INTERNET ACCESS.
- Move left to
INTERNET SETUP ASSISTANT.
- Click
YES.
- Click
YES again.
- Now click on the right arrow.
- After you've done that enter
in BrandywineNet or anything you choose for a name for the
connection.
- Be sure that
the round check box next to MODEM is on.
- Click the right
arrow.
- MODEM SETTINGS
should now show that the iMAC modem is selected
and the port is internal modem.
- Click the
right arrow.
- Enter your
local dialup number. See:
http://www.brandywine.net/localaccess.htm
- Now enter your
USER NAME and PASSWORD in the
log-in ID box and Password box. NOTE: Remember there all
lowercase letters.
- Now click the
right arrow.
- Now make sure
that NO is checked.
- Click the
right arrow again.
- Again, you
want NO checked.
- Click the
right arrow.
- In the large
box for DNS numbers you will need to enter
207.106.54.8 and 207.106.1.2 for the PRIMARY and
SECONDARY numbers.
- Leave the
DOMAIN NAME box empty.
- Click the
right arrow.
- In the E-Mail
address box you should enter your E-Mail address. (ie. Your E-Mail
address @brandywine.net)
- Your password
will again be entered in the password box.
- Click the
right arrow.
- Again, you
will enter your E-Mail address.
- In the SMTP
box enter ras.brandywine.net
- Click the
right arrow.
- In the NNTP
box enter NEWS.BRANDYWINE.NET
- Click the
right arrow.
- Leave this
button at NO.
- Click the
right arrow again.
- Now you can
click on GO AHEAD.
- The computer (
if done correctly ) should start to dial in to BrandywineNet and
connect.
- Double click
on the Desktop icon named BROWSE THE INTERNET.
- In the next
window click YES.
- The Browser
will now open and you will go to the APPLE homepage.
You can change this to take you to
any page you want.

Setting up
your Mail.
- Move to the upper left corner of the screen and click on the APPLE
icon.
- Move down the list to INTERNET ACCESS.
- Click on NO in the window that comes up. ( Unless you actually
have other data on your machine.)
- Click OK.
- A
window called PREFERENCES should now come up. All the info that
you entered earlier should be in there. You will have to enter the
word ' trout ' in front of the entry that is already in the box
named POP3.
- Click OK.
- On
the Toolbar click on SEND & RECEIVE.
- The computer will now dail into your account and retrieve your
mail.
- When the window comes up you will need to enter your password and
have the option to save the password. Saving it will remove the
need to enter it in again.
- Press OK.
After finishing on the Internet ( or
mail ) you will need to manually disconnect. Go to the lower left
corner of the screen to the icon that looks sort of like a handle.
Click on it. A bar will open up. To the left of the middle ( actual
distance may vary ) there is an icon that has a telephone pole as
part of it's picture. Click here. The last option is to DISCONNECT.
Click on this and it will free the phone line in about 10 seconds.
