These directions assume
that you have already successfully installed your AOL software in
accordance with AOL's instructions. To get access through AOL,
you do not need to contact us nor is there a charge from us. All
you have to do is call 1-800-827-6364 and tell them you are going
through BrandywineNet, a local ISP in Southeast PA and you want
the reduced rate for independent TCP/IP Connections ($9.95).
Step 1: Sign on
to BrandywineNet
You must sign on to
BrandywineNet before you sign on to AOL. (This allows your
computer to accept TCP/IP connections.) Connect to BrandywineNet
as you normally would. Close your Internet browser or other
Internet software if it is open.
Step 2: Configuring AOL to connect via TCP/IP
Windows-- To
configure AOL to connect via BrandywineNet using TCP/IP:
- Load America Online software.
- On the Sign on Screen, click
Setup.
- Click Edit Location.
- In the Network
list box, click TCP/IP.
- Click Save.
AOL 3.0 for Macintosh--
configure AOL to connect via BrandywineNet using TCP/IP:
- Load America Online software.
- On the Sign on Screen, select
TCP (for LAN or ISP) from the Select
Location drop-down box.
AOL 2.6/2.7 for Macintosh--
configure AOL to connect via BrandywineNet using TCP/IP:
- Load America Online software.
- On the Sign on Screen, select
TCP Connection from the Locality
drop-down box.
Step 3: Sign on to AOL via
BrandywineNet
- Make sure you are connected to
BrandywineNet.
- Sign on to America Online with
your TCP/IP configuration. (If you hear the modem dial after you
click the SIGN ON button on AOL, you are NOT
connecting via TCP/IP. Make sure the Network
box says TCP/IP in your setup as per Step 2.)
